7/3: A Firm Foundation

Every time I look at this, I think we should be playing a giant game of checkers! They finished the rebar for the foundation this morning. It was pretty cool to watch them cut it, bend it, and put it all together. The inspector was scheduled for Wednesday, but he was in the neighborhood and dropped by this afternoon. It was encouraging to hear him say that K-Co does such good work that he knew it would be a slam-dunk. We were scheduled for the concrete to be poured on Thursday. I have a call in to the supervisor to see if that moves up to Wednesday now that we've passed inspection. I sure don't want to miss that photo op! For those of you who have been wondering about the new drainage pipe, here's a shot of it with a bit of the old pipe thrown in for comparison. There seems to be a leak under the house, too, so we will be taking a look at that soon.
And for those of you who are so tired of looking at dirt, dirt, dirt, I took this picture of the front of the house this morning. As you can see, a few things are blooming and living through all the commotion going on around them. We are using that garden as our path to the front door, so it's getting a lot of wear and tear!
