It seems that once people learn we were going to remodel our house they feel compelled to tell me the horror stories of their own remodel. I've decided it's like being pregnant. Everyone who has had a baby wants to tell you about their labor/delivery and nobody has a good story to tell. Ay-yi-yi!
If I believed what people are telling me, we will not have a working kitchen until Christmas, the construction workers will smoke in my house and leave a mess of garbage all over the place, the remodel will cost at least a third more than the estimate, and the contractor will try to talk us into upgrading everything.
I'm thinking I shouldn't be sharing! Maybe we should just send out announcements when it's all finished.
Seriously, there are some supportive folks out there. I just need to stop the others and ask how they like their kitchens now!

well... let's stay in our happy places and believe it's all going to work out just great. you could talk to the contractor's other customers and see how they do their work, with timing, behavior, and upselling, if you really want a reality check. but I often think reality is overrated...
You're right. Reality is way overrated.
The customers I spoke with were all very pleased with the work and the timing.
I'm so ready to get going on this!
Our neighbors across the street added rooms and a loft/bedroom to their house. It took several months with basically just the two of them working. They finished practically when they expected to and the house is great. They gotsome help with wiring and plumbing and my wife cooked them one meal a week while their kitchen was torn up. The project was a great success.
Hey, there are so many different projects. Seems that you never hear about the good ones. It'll all get done - just breathe! From the pictures that you've shared, it looks like the contractor does great work.
This is a great site! Don't listen to horror stories, because everybody's experiences are not the same! Just make sure you know your contrator, well. Guess you don't need that advice. LOL Look forward to seeing beginning to end!
